Located in the heart of Melbourne, Sound Stage 6 Docklands Studio comprises of a 4,000m² sound stage and a 1,900m² three-storey office building. This facility is one of the largest in the southern hemisphere, built with the aim of reinvigorating the screen production industry within Victoria and provide facilities to capture the international market.
Our Dulux experts assisted and guided the project team from the early design stages of Sound Stage 6, through the intricacies of construction queries and to the completion of the project.
The brief was simple. Strong, bold colours were to be used as part of the facility’s site-wide identity and branding which was based on Andy Warhol’s portrait of Marilyn Monroe. The feature colour for Sound Stage 6 – pink.
The selection of pink was highly considered by our Dulux experts due to the variation of substrates, materials and finishes, and orientation of elements. Given the facility’s proximity to Port Philip Bay and the challenging environmental conditions for the powder coated elements, Duratec Eternity was selected for its excellent colour retention and super durable finish.
The colour used for the aluminium louvres, Pink Pearl Gloss, was specially developed by our CustomColour™ service and helped ensure a seamless branding experience throughout the building’s interior and exterior.
