A stunning use of Electro at the Dulux Colour Awards

28 May 2019

The Bureau Proberts designed Walan apartments, perched along the clifftop of Brisbane’s Kangaroo Point, used Dulux Electro® Powder Coatings to protect the stunning louvred façade, but importantly to also complement the engrained colour pallet of the Kangaroo Point rock face.

The result was a sensational building that has been recognised with the John Dalton Award for Building of the Year at the Australian Institute of Architects’ Queensland Regional Architecture Awards, whilst it was also recognized with a Commendation in the Exterior Commercial category of the 33rd Dulux Colour Awards.

A series of colour studies of the cliffscape and patterning’s were undertaken to create a strong graphic expression that is derived from the cliff face. This led to Bureau Proberts choosing Dulux Electro Powder coatings as they deliver an anodised look that subtly changes in appearance as light conditions alter in the day.

The collective impact of the 6 finishes chosen helped deliver the final composition that is representative of the changes in the cliff face over time. The project used:

  • Electro Manor Red Gold (Bespoke Custom Colour)
  • Electro Gold Pearl (Bespoke Custom Colour)
  • Electro Copper Pearl (Bespoke Custom Colour)
  • Electro Burnished Copper
  • Electro Natural Silver
  • Electro Sensational Champagne
